Byte Size Coaching

The Byte Size Coaching program was originally designed for community soccer organizations ("clubs") who purchased the program on behalf of their volunteer coaches. However, more and more individual coaches are now signing up where their club has not yet made the investment.

In our February edition of the World of Soccer Newsletter we take a look at a "new" development in the game of soccer - and it involves the scoring of goals. Go to the Practice Section for this "new" development - or should I say, evolvement.

Three Quick Passes:

First we visit Marc Rizzardo, who is "locked down" in the Olympic Village in Vancouver for the Winter Olympics where the weather has been more like the Summer Olympics.

Then we link you to a topic, "Is it too Cold, Coach?" It would be nice to have that problem in Vancouver right now.

The second pass takes us to soccer in South Africa, but not this year's World Cup. It's 30 years of soccer in a prison where there were no on-the-road games. I think you will find the article by Dr Bob Barber fascinating.

The third pass comes from Hugh Swan, Director of Coaching for the Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association, where it may well be "Too Cold, Coach" right now. As we write today's forecast is minus 16C to minus 24C - and that is cold. Hugh questions the appropriateness of the FIFA 11+ Warm-Up and as usual, makes some very good points.

In the Boot Room, Franz Beckenbauer, Der Kaiser, tells us how much he enjoyed his 3 years with the New York Cosmos and why.

Hot out of England - an online course featuring Sir Alex Ferguson, Arsene Wenger and Fabio Capello. That's not bad for starters, but there is much more to go with that illustrious threesome. It's a course no serious coach could pass on and the price is very reasonable.

Hope you enjoy.

3 Quick Passes

Marc Rizzardo has been running a series of articles surrounding the fitness aspect of soccer - the do's and dont's. Marc right now is locked down in the Olympic Village in Vancouver in his position as the Chief Therapist of the Canadian Olympic team.

Marc will be back, but this link will take you to his latest article which we published in the Byte Size Coaching Newsletter this month. If you haven't already seen it is called "Is it too cold, Coach?".

Online Football (Soccer) Management Course

In our Byte Size Coaching newsletter earlier this month I gave details of a new online football (soccer) management course that will be launched next month.

The first course has over 3-hours of video with interviews involving Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United, Arsene Wenger of Arsenal and Fabio Capello, the present England World Cup Team Manager. No need to give you the bios of those famous soccer people.

Boot Room

Joe

As a bona fide alumnus in the 70’s of the original Boot Room at the mighty Liverpool Football Club, in each newsletter we will include one article from today's World of Soccer Boot Room. I think you will find these articles pretty informative, but more importantly, you will have a chuckle. Hey! If you don’t think that’s important, go sit in your closet for two hours and see how much fun that is.

This month's Article is called: Mexico 86

Practices

I guess there is nothing “new” in life. Innovations are built on the old – a further refinement. This is the case in our practice section where we look at where and how some of the goals are being scored in top-class soccer.
