Use a cone or plastic water bottle, a center marker and
lines to shoot from - knock down the cone.
Scoring:
-
Point for a touch, but the cone stays up.
-
Two points for a knock down (reward is the shooter must pick it up again).
-
Three points if you knock the cone in the air, it spins and
comes back on its feet again (not so likely, but with some cones it can happen).
Progressions
-
With young players keep the distances short and maybe have 3
or 4 cones to shoot at (to increase the chances).
-
As the players get better/older, make the distance greater
and reduce the size of the target, e.g., smaller cone or marker disc.
-
Have a rule you can only strike a moving ball (two touch
rule) for a shot to count.
-
Have rounds where the non-dominate foot (usually the left)
has to be used.
-
For teens and above make the distance greater and have a
rule where all shots have to be driven, i.e., kicking with the laces.
