Why Build a Company surrounding the coaching of Young Players?

Many people have asked why did I move from the excitement and prestige of professional soccer and Olympic and World Cup coaching to work with the coaches of the youngest players.  After 1986, from being involved at the highest level of the game - the World Cup - why would I have given that up for the benefit of players from 4-to 18-years of age upwards?

Simple!

This is the most exciting and rewarding soccer challenge I have ever had -
  • Striving to give the youngest players a love for the game so that it will be a game for life.
  • Designing an environment that will give great enjoyment, incredibly healthy activity while helping to take the game to a new level.

We know that early learning is the most important and has a lifetime effect.  Far too often soccer programs for young players and their coaches are not given the attention they deserve because most of the leaders of the game are preoccupied by elite youth programs and the possibilities of "big time soccer" - the pro leagues and national teams. But the fact is "greatness" can only be built on a solid foundation.

And we all know, soccer presented the right way, is "great" to play - at any level.

And then there is an incredibly exciting bonus.  A by-product of the World of Soccer and our Byte Size Coaching programs will be the emergence of a new breed of great players - albeit for only a very small percentage.  We can't all be great.  But we can all become better.

Early skill learning, developed in a positive and fun environment, can provide the building blocks for much greater things later on. That is not our only "reason for being" - but it is pretty exciting part of what we do.

I guess you can understand why I made that decision 20 years ago.
