As time went on I was able to acquire varied coaching and management experiences before moving to North America in 1977:
- Lancashire FA Instructor, 1960-67
- English FA Regional Coach, 1967-69
- Manager/Coach Youth Development Program, Liverpool FC, 1969-70
- Returned to playing at Burnley FC 1970-72 (Player/Coach)
- Brief stints as assistant coach at Coventry City and Tranmere Rovers, 1972
- Manager/Coach England Professional Youth Team, 1972-73, Winners of European Youth Championship, 1973
- Manager/Coach, Plymouth Argyle, Football League, 1972-77 (League Cup semi-final 1974; promoted to 2nd Division 1975)
